About

The Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (CEFAGE) was created in 2006, with the aim of promoting research in the areas of Management and Economics. Since 2009, CEFAGE is funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Teconologia (FCT) and achieved the highest FCT grade: "Excellent". In 2014, it was evaluated as “Very Good” by the FCT panel.

CEFAGE is now a Research Unit that brings together the best researchers in Economics and Management from various institutions. It has a main office at the University of Évora and branches at the University of Algarve, University of Beira Interior and Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the New University of Lisbon.

CEFAGE is led by an executive board of 5 members: a director, three vice-directors and a scientific coordinator. In addition, CEFAGE has a Scientific Council and a Research Advisory Board to supervise the Unit’s performance and provide scientific advice.

The research interests of CEFAGE's members cover, among other fields, agricultural economics, econometrics, environmental resources, finance, industrial organization, innovation and entrepreneurship, international economics, labour economics, operations research, tourism economics, spatial economics and sustainable growth.

CEFAGE’s research activities are currently organised in 4 research groups (Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Operations; Finance; Industrial, Labour & Spatial Economics; Macroeconomics, Growth & Development) which are defined according to our main areas of research, and 4 thematic strands (Tourism; Agrifood & Forestry; Education & Health; Sustainability & Performance) which are transversal to the various research groups.
