Resumo/Abstract: Several studies have established a relationship between firms strategies and their performance, but very few have examined the role of dynamic capabilities in this process. In the present study we establish a link between these three elements in an integrative approach, through primary information, collected by means of an online questionnaire to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Knowledge Intensive Business Services in Portugal. Thus, we conclude there is a direct effect of several strategic orientations on superior performance, as well as indirect effects, that is, through the possession of dynamic capabilities firms augment the positive effects of strategic orientations on their overall performance.
